Battle Studies is the upcoming fourth studio album by American blues-rock musician John Mayer, due to be released on November 17, 2009. Mayer has chosen to step to the side of what made his last studio album Continuum so successful, rather focusing on a new, fresh style of song writing. During a live performance in June of 2009 Mayer said, "The album is called Battle Studies and that's because it incorporates a lot of the lessons, a lot of the observations, and a little bit of advice. Like a handbook, like a heartbreak handbook." The album leaked on November 8, 2009.

John Mayer Offers First Listen to "Battle Studies" Single "Who Says".
John Mayer premiered the first single off his new album Battle Studies, "Who Says," on his official Website, alerting fans to his new song with a tweet that reads, "From my heart to yours." The sweet little acoustic folk ballad starts off innocently, reminding fans of Continuum favorites like "Stop This Train" and "Heart of Life." And as Mayer tells Rolling Stone in our new issue, the song's opening line — "Who says I can't get stoned?" — is equally innocent.

"When I sing it, I do not think about marijuana — I think about walking around your house naked with a guitar," Mayer says. "It's about being in control of the pleasure in your life."

Musically, "Who Says" accomplishes what Mayer says he set out to do on his follow-up to 2006's soulful and introspective Continuum: Make a pop album, or "a record where you could sing any of the songs in an American Idol audition," as Mayer tells RS.

Battle Studies also features "Heartbreak Warfare," a pop-soul tune that may or may not be about Mayer's tabloid-fixture relationship with actress Jennifer Aniston. Taylor Swift will also make an appearance on the album, singing a Fleetwood Mac-esque duet with Mayer called "Half of My Heart." Waking Up (OneRepublic album).
Waking Up is the forthcoming second studio album by OneRepublic and it is due for a release on November 17, 2009 in North America, while being release November 13th in Germany and January 18th, 2010 in the U.K. The band has already performed some of the songs that are expected to appear on the album. Lead singer Ryan Tedder announced on July 21, 2009, that the band's sophomore album would be completed five weeks from that date which was August 25, 2009. The album was completed on that date. The lead single from the album, "All the Right Moves", was released on September 29, 2009 for radio airplay.

Background
After the success of OneRepublic's debut album, they began work on a sophomore album in 2008 and aimed for it to be more alternative and meaningful. The album was completed on August 25, 2009. On September 6, 2009, the band posted a low-quality version of the first single from their second album, "All the Right Moves", while a higher quality version can be found on their MySpace page. On September 8, 2009, the band posted samples of 4 of their songs from the new album onto their MySpace page. 11 songs were announced to make up the track list. The official track list was falesly reported on October 20th. The official track list was confirmed by Germany's Amazon on November 3rd.

Still riding the momentum of the record-breaking single "I'm Yours," which recently spent 76 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has sold over four million downloads, singer-songwriter Jason Mraz releases his fourth official live album, the clumsily titled Jason Mraz's Beautiful Mess – Live from Earth. Unlike R.E.M.'s recent Live from the Olympia set, which brought new insight into a veteran band's creative process, Mraz's Mess is a collection that will most likely be of interest only to his core fans, since he simply doesn't have a deep catalogue of material from which to draw and doesn't stray too far from the arrangements of the songs found on his three proper studio albums. Still, there's no faulting the quality of the recording, taken from a show at Chicago's Charter One Pavillion in the summer of 2009, or Mraz's performances: He actually tones down some of the show-boating tendencies that have made his studio albums come across as smarmy, and he does have a genuinely strong, versatile voice. There's a laidback vibe to the set that is unsurprising given Mraz's neo-crunch sensibility, and the performances of songs like "Sunshine Song" and "Only Human" are generally pleasant. The only surprises are a reggae-inspired reworking of his other hit single, "The Remedy (I Won't Worry)," a by-the-books cover of Lionel Richie's "All Night Long," and an appearance by the ungodly dull Colbie Caillat for a duet on the simpering "Lucky." The crowd's response makes it clear that there's an enthusiastic audience for Mess, but, for the unconverted, it's hard to hear the album as anything more than inessential.
