Def Leppard Tour America With Poison and Cheap Trick - Cheesy 80s Rock Aplenty

Posted: 26 Feb 2009 12:08 PM PST

Def Leppard are a British rock group that formed in Sheffield in 1977 and spearheaded the New Wave of British Heavy Metal along with Iron Maiden and Motorhead. And 32 years later, they are still together, and still performing live.

Today, the band has announced a new 40-date megatour with support from Poison and Cheap Trick. The three bands will make their way across the United States banging out their cheesy 80s rock tunes.

The group told Billboard:

"We're going out with three bands, which limits the amount of time we can play to about 90 minutes. When you do your greatest hits and some new material or extra stuff you might throw in, you have got to push and shove and clamp down. No big long speeches from moi. You have to do the AC/DC thing and just bang through everything."

"We've taken the path of least resistance, we've put a bill together that we think is attractive."

Tickets for the tour go on sale to the public on Friday, March 6, 2009 livenation.com. With combined album sales of over 100 million albums, 65 million of which are down to Def Leppard, tickets are likely to sell quickly, so get in there while you can.

Personally, I’m not a fan of hair metal but I’m sure many of you are. And if so, this tour is like manna from Heaven.
