Kate Nash’ New Album Equals New Direction Posted: 16 Mar 2009 02:40 PM PDT Kate Nash felt like a breath of fresh air when she burst onto the scene in 2007. She first released Caroline’s a Victim/Birds on a limited release run. This then lead to a new record deal which saw Foundations hit big. Then came the album. I adored Kate Nash’ debut album, Made Of Bricks. It was fresh, innovative, and exciting. Nash has been out of the news for a while now, but she hasn’t been resting, instead working on her second album. In an interview with BBC Newsbeat, Nash explained what she’s been up to, how the new material is coming along, and when we can expect to see the next album released. She said:
People present at Nash’ gig in London last October were treated to two of the new songs, with Froggy and I Hate Seagulls given their first airing. Both songs were said to have been written while Nash was touring Australia. The new direction Nash is thought to be heading in is harder and edgier, no doubt influenced by her dating The Cribs front man Ryan Jarman. I personally like the idea of her hardening it up a little but I really hope she doesn’t lose her wit and charm in the transition. Nash is still recording songs for the new album and is currently looking for a producer to help finish the record. It’s expected to be released by the end of the summer, and I for one cannot wait to hear what she’s come up with.
