Know Good Music

Know Good Music

One More Michael Jackson Post

I'm not gonna front. I cried today. A couple times. Thats bugged out since its not a family member or even anyone I knew. I'm still surprised at how big of a media event Michael's passing has become & that the press has been overwhelmingly positive. I'm not trying to throw on my "I'm a bigger fan than you" hat but I got on a Michael Jackson kick at least a couple times a year but I kept it to myself because I thought most of the rest of the world had thrown him under the bus. When he sold out those 50 shows in England I knew he must still have lots of dedicated fans but I really had no idea.

I think what it is for me is that Michael Jackson was the first artist who I declared myself a fan of. Everyone likes music but there comes a time in life when we take an active interest in it & we move beyond just listening to whatever our parents or whoever is close to us is listening to. We start to seek out music for ourselves. Thriller was that gateway for me. I was only 7 or 8 years old. Michael Jackson was the man behind it. And now he's gone. Way earlier than he should have left. And that, my friends, is a weird feeling.

I think Al Sharpton won back his credibility with the under 40 crowd...

This was too much...

Jermaine sings Michael's favorite song...

I almost wish they hadn't done this part...
