She Plays Music

Sugababes New Music Video For “Get Sexy”

British pop band, the Sugababes have recently released the music video to support their single "Get Sexy." The single is the first track off of their seventh studio album, which is rumored to have a release date aiming for the 9th of November this year. It will be available for digital download on August 30th and for purchase as a CD single on August 31st.  The next song rumored to be released off of their new album is called "About a Girl." Producer RedOne and singer Ne-Yo are said to have a hand in the making of the album.

The chorus for "Get Sexy" is inspired by Right Said Fred's 1991 hit single "I'm Too Sexy." The song isn't all that creative or original, but it could pass for a successful summer song. The music video is full of colors and interesting settings ranging from Amelle being in a bird cage, Heidi in a room of mirrors and lights, Keisha on a couch and all three of them being chained together!  Check out the video and let me know what you think!

Scarlett Johansson and Peter Yorn “Break Up” Album

Scarlett Johansson is serious about trying her hand at singing.  Her single (with Peter Yorn) "Relator" is available for download now so I had to give it a listen.  The track is from the duo's upcoming album Break Up which will be released on September 8, 2009.peter yorn and scarlett johansson break up

As was the case after I heard Scarlett's 2008 album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, I feel like she should just stick to acting.  She might be able to carry a tune (might be are the operative words) but she is not a singer.  It feels like she is trying too hard to be an indie artist and she comes off sounding like a wannabe (in my very humble opinion).

I'm optimistic after hearing "Relator" but the part that I heard was mostly of Peter singing so it's hard to judge.  The album's full preview isn't available yet but here is the track listing:
