Taylor Swift “You Belong With Me” Posted: 13 Aug 2009 12:16 PM PDT Taylor Swift's song "You Belong With Me" has been on the charts for a while but it's been really picking up steam these last few weeks and now sits in the #2 spot of Billboard's Hot 100 chart. I'm not surprised. Ever since Taylor first emerged as an artist in 2006, music lovers have been receptive to her clever (but, often, charmingly innocent) lyrics. I think the girl is a heck of a songwriter even though I'm not always a huge fan of her actual singing voice. At least, she has the writing to fall back on if she ever chooses to end her own recording career which is a lot better than what most of these other starlets can say. "You Belong With Me" is from her Fearless album which debuted on November 11, 2008 and has since gone on to be hugely successful thanks to hits like "Love Story" and "White Horse." So many artists proudly announce that they've written one or two tracks on their album but Taylor's name is credited to every song (as writer or co-writer) and I think that is an amazing accomplishment for a 19-year-old artist. So, before I put up the video, I've got to make one criticism of young Taylor – she's at risk of becoming the next Mariah Carey. Okay, before you get all dramatic, I mean it in the sense that her lyrics are starting to border on obsessive and stalkerish. Sure, most of us can relate to acting or feeling that way but Taylor might want to consider diversifying a little bit… Without further ado, here's the video for "You Belong With Me." image: Amazon Post from: She Plays Music |
