Another Album Delay For Mariah Carey Posted: 14 Aug 2009 11:20 AM PDT Mariah Carey's upcoming album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel has been pushed back by more than a month with the singer announcing (via her official website) the following:
It was supposed to come out on August 25, 2009 and I have to admit that I'm disappointed. Sure, I wasn't the biggest fan of her newest single "Obsessed" but I was looking forward to hearing what else the album has to offer. It's so close to the planned release date to be making an announcement like this so I hope that all is well in Mimi-town. I am sure she was a bit rattled by Eminem's reaction (or should I say "warning") to her latest music video but she's got hubby, Nick Cannon, to defend her honor. Oh well, I could speculate all day so I'm just going to stop and do the only thing that I can do – wait. image: MariahCarey.com Post from: She Plays Music |
Flashback Friday: Crystal Waters “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)” Posted: 14 Aug 2009 10:48 AM PDT I can remember when I first heard "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)." I was in junior high (the song was released in April 1991 and was the most memorable track from Crystal Waters' Surprise album) and I loved it instantly. As a song, it's really simple. The chords are repetitive, the use of instruments is minimal – which was uncommon for the time – and the lyrics were meaningful but basic. It really is one of those great examples of early dance music. The song actually earned Waters three nominations at the 1991 American Music Awards (Favorite Artist – Dance, Favorite Single – Dance and Favorite New Artist – Dance). She may not have taken home any of those awards but she did win the "Top-Selling Hot Dance Music Club Play Single" prize at the 1994 Billboard Music Awards for her other hit "100% Pure Love." Enjoy your weekend and check out today's Flashback Friday selection – "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)"
