| Madonna Honors Michael Jackson at 2009 VMAs Posted: 14 Sep 2009 01:32 AM PDT Instead of opening with a performance, this year's MTV Video Music Awards opened with Madonna paying tribute to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. I thought that it was going to be some 30-second speech which would be followed by video montage of his life and greatest video moments but, instead, the singer first drew parallels between her life and Jackson's, talked about the time they spent together and then talks about how she feels the world let him down by embarking on a witch hunt and failing to treat him like a human being. The crowd erupted in cheers, many shed some tears and the tribute led some to rise from their seats. It was an emotional speech and I could never recapture her words so it's best if you just watch it if you missed it (or just want to see it again): Post from: She Plays Music |
| Beyoncé Gives Taylor Swift Her Moment Back Posted: 13 Sep 2009 11:16 PM PDT After Kanye West hurtfully stole Taylor Swift's moment when she won for "Best Female Video" she left the stage in tears but rebounded with an incredible performance of "You Belong With Me." I was so proud of her courage and, in the end, she got to finish her acceptance speech. When Beyoncé later won for "Video of the Year" she said that when she was nominated for a Video Music Award with Destiny's Child when she was 17, she was really excited and felt that Taylor Swift should have her moment. She called the younger singer back on to the stage and let her have her moment and I swear it brought tears to my eyes. Very classy! Watch the great moment here:

| Kanye West Steals Taylor Swift’s Moment at 2009 VMAs Posted: 13 Sep 2009 07:58 PM PDT Kanye West was at it again tonight when he didn't agree with the winner of the "Best Female Video" prize at the 2009 Video Music Awards. When I saw the nominees, I said to my family that I really liked Taylor Swift's video for "You Belong With Me" but that I fully expected Beyoncé to win for "Single Ladies." Let's be truthful – that video created an internet sensation with people and celebrities uploading videos of themselves mimicking the dance moves. I was surprised when Taylor won but I thought that she deserved it since the video was great. She got up there and was gushing over how amazing the moment was for her and it seemed almost like a fairy tale for the young country star until Kanye jumped on stage and took the microphone. He told the crowd that "Single Ladies" should have won and Taylor just stood there shocked on the verge of tears. Reports are that she walked off the stage crying and Kanye was escorted from the building. This isn't the first time Kanye has pulled this kind of stunt. He lost to Justin and Simian who won for their "We Are Your Friends" video over the one he made for his single "Touch the Sky." When the pair took the stage to accept the award, he jumped on stage and said that he should have won. There are actually more incidents like that (read here) but here's a video of Taylor's heartbreaking moment. Post from: She Plays Music |
