Johnny Lee's Lookin' For Love Was #1 On This Day Back In 1980

Posted: 06 Sep 2009 11:59 AM PDT

Lookin' For Love was Johnny Lee's first number one hit on the Billboard Hot Country charts. Most people remember it as "the song" from the movie Urban Cowboy starring John Travolta and Debra Winger. The story behind the song is pretty funny. Johnny didn't write the song. It was written by two second grade school teachers who wrote the song about their students. Johnny actually found the song in a motel room in 1979. That "find" would turn out to be the biggest find of his life. Enjoy this look back at the number one song in country music on this day back in 1980.
