Katy Perry Talks About Fake Vegas Wedding

Katy Perry sung about "Waking Up in Vegas" and it sounds like she's had the experience of getting married in Sin City – almost.

Three years ago, she and her boyfriend at the time too part in a fake wedding ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel.  It turns out that the prank was a good idea since it served as inspiration for her hit single.

Katy explained (via Now Magazine): "My boyfriend [at the time] and I were on a crazy weekend in Vegas and, on a whim, we decided it would be a fun idea to pretend to get married just to freak out friends and family.  We bought a wedding dress and a suit at a thrift store, picked up a wedding cake and went into the Little White Wedding Chapel to explain to the priest what we wanted.  He seemed fine about it and even made up a fake wedding certificate… We sent the photos off to everyone we knew and they all completely freaked out.’

I would have been FURIOUS at first but then I probably would have thought the joke was pretty funny.  Talk about an elaborate prank!
