| What’s Wrong With American Idol Season 8? Posted: 18 Feb 2009 02:24 PM PST Honestly, I've been busy and now I'm a bit under the weather but I can't hold my tongue any longer – what is wrong with this current season of American Idol? Not only have I sat on my couch, shocked by what I've been seeing but I know the producers are trying to bring a little freshness to the show by adding a new judge (Kara DioGuardi) and revising the Top 36 process but I think something else is going on. How else can you explain some of the contestants who have made it this far? Let's talk about Tatiana Del Toro. I won't deny that she's got a decent voice (decent, not great!) but all that we've seen of her is really unlikeable. Whether she was crying, praying or begging, she was almost unbearable to watch during the audition process. Last night, her subdued behavior was even stranger. I keep forgetting that this is a 24-year-old woman because she acts like she's still in high school. I don't get it and, what's more, I don't Then there's Nick Mitchell/Norman Gentle. SERIOUSLY!? Again, don't get me wrong. I like the guy and I even found him amusing during his audition and Hollywood Week but to make it to the Top 36 when Jamar Rogers was cut? On what planet does that make any kind of sense? And what was going on with the band and backup singers during last night's performances? They really messed up for some people (like Stephen Fowler). How is that fair? What do you think? Are you liking this season? | Katharine McPhee Looks Fierce at 2009 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Posted: 18 Feb 2009 01:54 PM PST American Idol season 5 runner-up, Katharine McPhee, was spotted at the Caroline Herrera show as part of the Mercedes-Benz Fall 2009 Fashion Week in New York City. I'm sure it was a bit chilly out in NYC but Katharine still managed to look gorgeous with her knee-length dress while protecting her throat with a high-neck collar. Very smart!

| Blake Lewis Making Dance Album With New Label Posted: 18 Feb 2009 01:07 PM PST American Idol season 6 runner-up, Blake Lewis, has been signed to Tommy Boy Records and he seems really excited about it since they allowing him to make the dance record that he's been wanting to do. It's great to see him video blogging! It was his first one but he's got a YouTube channel now! He said that he's going to be putting up a list of his favorite records from 2008 soon so I'm looking forward to that. He also mentioned that he's been working with the YMCA's Strong Kids campaign which really warmed my heart. While I was a student, that program allowed my kids to participate in activities and they actually started running marathons (even the 5-year-old has done three 1.6km races!).
